Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
